[tps_title]2017 NFL Combine: 6 CB participants to watch for the Dallas Cowboys[/tps_title]
[2/6] Marlon Humphrey, Alabama (6’1″, 196)
When drawing up what you want your ideal cornerback to look like in the NFL, you wouldn’t be far off if you drew an exact replica of Marlon Humphrey. Humphrey has the size, weight, and speed teams covet in their CBs, which is why he will be drafted at some point in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Humphrey is a fluid moving CB, who is physical in both the running and passing game. He’s not going to let receivers bully him anywhere on the field. In fact, he is usually the one being the aggressor, but not in a grabby way. He has benefited from playing at Alabama because he is well coached and well-versed in different coverage concepts.
Despite all of his physical gifts, Humphrey is really inconsistent with his play. A lot of times that is due to his impatience when carrying a receiver throughout the route. Sometimes this can create separation and get him in trouble. Of course, he can clean this up with more focus on his technique and remaining patient throughout the entirety of the play.
Marlon Humphrey’s inconsistencies in college could lead him to land in the lap of the Dallas Cowboys at 28. Of course, if he puts on a good showing at the NFL combine, he could be one of the first CBs to be drafted and would be long gone by the time the Cowboys are on the clock.
This is the year, the Cowboys will draft Seattle like secondary players , to take the Cowboys to another level Furthermore, those additions, will have Sean Lee, Jaylon Smith, Byron Jones, and Anthony Brown, flourish, in a proactive mode, especially, if the Cowboys land Takk and AQ Muhammad at the defensive end position. It’s Charles Haley an Harvey Martin, show again!!
I think all of us Cowboys fans are hoping that’s the case.
