Round 6: Brandon Thomas, OG, Clemson
Thomas is really a RT/OG prospect who projects better as a guard at the next level. Thomas is, in my opinion, a better run blocker than a pass blocker but does both well enough to be considered a prospect who could eventually step in and be a productive starter on a well-formed offensive line.
The Cowboys need competition at the guard position with Bernadeau costing $4+ million against the cap each of the next two years. Thomas can either possess a young developmental player or a player who can contribute at a quality level and offer the Cowboys some cap relief options.
I love the Telvin Smith pick but I think but I think they should look at him as a possible safety. Position flexability always makes a player more attractive.
I don’t know. Smith as a safety just reminds me of Roy Williams and I think the ‘Boys need a real ball-hawk in the secondary. But if he’s quick as Bo says then maybe pass disruption could make him a good enough fit. Certainly a lot of room for improvement over the current personnel.
