[tps_title]7. Ronald Leary, G (Age: 28)[/tps_title]
The Cowboys took a hardball approach with Leary during the offseason. They put a second-round Restricted Free Agent tender on him, assuring no teams would be interested in signing him away. Leary tried to get traded, but ultimately sucked it up and came to work.
Dallas’ decision paid off in a big way when La’el Collins went to Injured Reserve. Leary has come in and been arguably better than the young talent, helping the Cowboys establish a dominant run game. It could be enough to help Leary get the long-term contract he was hoping for in the next offseason.
The Cowboys will no doubt let Leary test free agency waters. If he can’t find a taker, they may bring him back in the same backup role for a $2-$3 million deal, similar to what they were paying Mackenzy Bernadeau the last few seasons.
